And where have you been young man

OK first off people who create computer viruses just to be dicks are dicks. The reason I have not posted in a while is that as you can see I got a virus that my virus protection software could not get rid of. It was a pain in the butt. I got the all clear from the Doc. on Tuesday. He believes that some scar tissue that can build up was being released. From what he said it is pretty common. Because the swelling did go down with just ice and advil he doesn't think that I tore anything. So I have been back on the asphalt(No pain or additional swelling). I am still going to shoot for my goal of 70 miles for the month and I will be over a 1000 situps by tomorrow morning. All in all running wise it was not a bad month. How is your guys month shaping up? I hope everyone is happy and healthy.

Ouchie

Well guys I do not know what happened, but my knee is in pain, it's stiff, and today at the gym you would not have thunk that I have been rehabbing for 2 months now! I have not even attempted to run these past three days. Advil, ice nothing works. It has swollen up a little. I just do not know what happened. I got home from the gym on Monday where I did 22min. on the bike and all of a sudden it just started hurting. There is no bruising or discoloration so I think I am clear from infection. Good thing I have a appt. to see my surgeon next week. I was going to cancel because of how well I was doing. Good thing I didn't. But besides that. How is everyone else doing? Have you guys gone over to Jonathan's blog and seen the email he received from a soon to be fellow runner. If not click over there. Well I hope everyone is happy and healthy.

Oh the humidity!

Well right before I was to head out the door to put in 5 miles today it started to rain cats, dogs, and the kitchen sink. I decided to wait and in about 10 min. it had past. The second I walked out the door my hair just went flat and it felt like it weighted a 100lbs. Yep it got very humid outside. It was a very tuff run today so I did not even pay attention to time. It was all about finishing. I had to stop a couple of times. My stomach was not liking the wet air so it kept tightening up on me. But a quick walk worked it out. I am very glad I ran with my water belt today. Came in very handy. But I did finish and sometimes that's the best accomplishment. Well that's about it. I hope everyone is happy and healthy.

Ahhh rest

Yesterday was a very tuff run for me. It was raining, my knee hurt, my right shin was hurting and my thighs were burning. I was able to push through it though and got in my 5K loop. I did have to stop twice(And not for stop lights. Those held me up like always.) Once because my body was screaming at me and the second because I had an IPod malfunction. I was able to finish in 31min. 56sec. Not great, but I will take it. So today I rest I plan on just going in to work and that's it. I am running in a 5K on Saturday. It's the 13th annual Run for the Young in Greece,NY. This was the first 5K I had ever ran in and I had a lot of fun. My supervisors wife is running in it again this year also. So won her Division last year.

OK so here is a topic most people avoid when talking about Disney parks. Have you ever had something of value stolen from you at the parks. I had my camcorder stolen on my first trip with my wife back in '03. We were at Pizza Planet and we were enjoying some of the video games. Well we decided to split up and play on separate games. Well I had put the camera bag down on the ground next to my foot to play this one game and when I went to go grab it. The bag was gone! I started to freak out. Did you know that there are no security cameras in there. You would think that for safety reasons they would. I will tell ya if we were not at Disney that would have been the worst trip ever by far. Luckily we were able to put it behind us and just kept on moving forward. Well that's it. I hope everyone is happy and healthy.

UPDATE

Well People it's official. MIKE-SPEED is back baby! Yep I set a new PR for a 5K today. I ran the race in 24min. 32sec. or 7.55min mile ave. Beat last years race by 9sec. and that was with a good knee! I got a little worried because at mile 1 I heard the kid call out on the bullhorn 7min. 21 sec. I was like holy cats! Should I slow down. Knee felt good, Breathing was good, energy was ok. Ah screw it lets go. I did start to feel it at mile 2. But I was able to just keep pushing on. Knee so far has not bothered me yet. But tomorrow will be a whole other story. Well that's it guys. Happy mothers day to all our Team Voice mom's out there.

Just keep running

That's what I had to tell myself today. And it wasn't because of my knee. My right shin was giving me a little trouble at the start of my run today. It did eventually work itself out. But that first mile hurt. I ran my 5k loop again. It was better then Monday. Finished in 30min. 35sec. It would have been better if not for 2 of the longest stop lights. I know I should change this loop because these 2 stop lights always hold me up. But I like this loop because it has some killer hills on it. I guess now I will have to just think think think. I've noticed that there is not a lot of action over on the Team Voice blog. Is everyone trying this challenge? Is it too much?

OK now on to the Disney part of this post. What is the food you have to have when you are at the World or land. For me there are 2 things. The roasted nuts that are covered in Cinnamon and sugar. Also the Mickey ice cream bars. I MUST have these 2 things when I am down there. They are sooooooo addicting.

Not so fast young man

That's what my knee was telling me today. It hurt. No if ands or buts about it. After pushing myself yesterday I should of just taken today off for rest. But not determined stupid me. Nope I just had to go run. Well I did my 5k loop today and ran it in 33min flat. I walked the first 1/4 mile just to try and loosen up my knee. I then did a very light jog and then I was able to move a little bit better. When I got home I put my back on the floor put my knee on the couch and iced it for about 15min. It is feeling better now. But I am not going to run tomorrow. Just not worth any extra injury.

On a more positive note I ordered my park tickets for my trip in January! My wife had been laying it on thick because we can not afford to send the whole family down. Hence why I am doing a solo trip. She kept asking why I could'nt just go down for the weekend then come home not be down there for 9 days. Well I am already driving down. Since I am a DVC member I am not paying for the extra resort days. And the difference between a 4day park hopper and an 8 day park hopper is only $20 before tax. So the only thing I will have to worry about is food. And since I am going solo even that is not going to cost me much. I guess I am venting just to vent. Sorry about that. Well that's it. I hope everyone is happy and healthy.

Finish Strong!

Well isn't that what training is all about. My knee passed it's first real test today. 5miles in 47min. 27sec. And that's with having to stop for traffic several times so I could cross the street. I am really proud of that time. It shows progress. And I was able to do a little sprint to my ficticious finish line. WOO HOO! No gym the past 2 days. Too much stuff at home I needed to get done.

Well I was on the All About the Mouse forums the other day and Greg posted a really good poll question. Do you think Disney will raise it's prices this year even though we are in a recession. Me personally I think YES! It's Disney that's what they do. Oh yeah for all my DVC friends. I found out that they are raising the weekday points and lowering the weekend in 2010. For SSR where I am a member they raised it by 3 points for the weekday and lowered the weekend by 3 points. Too me that sucks becuase it is still darn expensive to use points on the weekends even with the lower rate and now I have to use more for the weekdays. Well that's it. I hope everyone is happy and healthy.
